What is new. We’ve been brushing and flossing our teeth for years and years. But many of us will be surprised to learn that we’re not doing it properly

Type of tooth Brush one should use.

“The one thing that we really insist upon, it’s very important, is, it has to have soft bristles,” says Kimberly Harms, a dentist from Farmington, MN, “The bristles need to be able to bend, to kind of get right under that gum.”She further emphasis, make sure your brush can cover the places that need covering. That’s everywhere you should be able to reach with a toothbrush. It can be a power toothbrush or a manual one.

The size of brushes also matter. So when choosing a brush one should be sure it fits in the mouth. The Bristles of brush should be soft as they clean more effectively than the harder one.

“Sometimes people think that the harder the bristles are, the more they’ll clean. But that’s not something that’s necessarily true,” says Maricelle Abayon, a dentist with the Eastman Institute for Oral Health in Rochester, NY.

The standard advice from dentists is to brush twice a day and to floss regularly. But is it before Breakfast or after and before sleeping. Some Dentist recommends brushing before Breakfast.

There is no evidence that morning-mouth bacteria may make you sick if you eat them along with your breakfast. However, it looks funny if you do brushing and immediately eats breakfast and carries the meal stuff tugged to gums and teeth.

“You should wait at least 30 minutes after eating to brush the teeth, otherwise the acid can damage the tooth surface. Brushing before bed is really important, as otherwise the food can sit against the surface of the teeth and cause them to decay overnight.”Says Dr. Richard Marques , one of the UK’s leading dentists.
